Sea Buckthorn Concentrate Facial Cream: Helping Save Your Skin this Winter

Sea Buckthorn Concentrate Facial Cream: Helping Save Your Skin this Winter

Happy New Year and welcome back to the Green Keratin Blog! Our New Year's resolution: To have a great skin day, every day.

I know, beautiful and glowing skin can seem almost impossible in January. After all the holiday celebrations and over-indulgence, coupled with the harsh winter weather conditions, you skin is often left to suffer the consequences. Which is why this is the perfect month to reset and switch up your skincare routine. January is the best time to step back and take a look at your skincare routine; to figure out what is working and what isn’t, and to make some changes for the better.

If your skin is feeling extra dry, sensitive and irritated this winter, then our Sea Buckthorn Concentrate Facial Cream could be just the kind of rejuvenating product it needs. This is one of my favourite gentle and ultra-nourishing moisturisers for when my sensitive skin needs some intensive care. This winter had left my skin feeling dry, flaky and completely lifeless. But, when I started using this cream, its intensive moisturising properties really seemed to revive my dull skin.

The star ingredient of this facial cream is Sea Buckthorn Oil, which is known within the skincare community as a fantastic natural source of Vitamins A, C and E, as well as Omegas 3, 6 and 7.

Vitamin A: Giving your Skin a Healthy Glow

Unlike other nutrients, Vitamin A is a group of compounds that not only includes its active compounds (Retinol, Retinal and Retinoic Acid), but it also consists of other provitamin A carotenoids, such as beta-carotene.

Vitamin A’s active compounds are very important for the reproduction and growth of your skin cells. Vitamin A is actually able to stimulate fibroblasts, which are the cells responsible for maintaining the dermis, keeping it looking plump and healthy. When your skin isn’t getting enough Vitamin A it can lead to it being weakened, which results in problems ranging from dryness to wrinkles appearing more severe.

As well as helping to keep your skin looking plump, Vitamin A is one of the best ingredients for giving your skin a natural, healthy glow. This is because Vitamin A is actually able to normalise your skin’s cell turnover, helping your skin to naturally shed pigmented, damaged and rough cells on the surface of the skin. By getting rid of these damaged cells your skin has more room for healthy cells, resulting in a more even-toned and glowing complexion.

Vitamins C and E

Vitamin C is vital for the skin because of its role in Collagen synthesis, which helps to maintain the skin’s health, as well as helping to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay. Because it is rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C is great for fighting off free-radicals, which can cause great damage to the skin’s cells. However, our skin’s natural levels of Vitamin C are reduced by prolonged exposure to UV rays and pollutants within the environment, meaning it is critical to make sure your skincare routine is helping to maintain the skin’s Vitamin C levels.

Vitamin E also works to block the free-radicals from damaging the skin and speeding up the ageing process by intensifying the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. For this reason, Vitamin E and C combined together are able to work as an anti-ageing dream team for the skin.

Satisfying All Omega Fatty Acid Needs

This ultra-nourishing face cream is packed to the brim with Omega 3, 6 and 7.

Omega 3 is a powerful anti-inflammatory that helps to reduce redness and swelling in the skin, making it perfect for sensitive skin that is feeling the worst of the winter weather. Omega 3 is also naturally rich in fatty acids, which are emollients that are fantastic for providing the skin with a surge of moisture, helping maintain the skin’s hydration levels.

Omega 6 is another essential fatty acid that is necessary for not only your overall health, but also the health of your skin. These fatty acids keep the skin wonderfully moisturised, but their anti-inflammatory properties also help certain skin conditions such as: eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.

Tips for Application

Before you apply this facial cream, it is essential that you remove any makeup or dirt from the skin by cleansing thoroughly. Massage an even layer into the face and neck, but remember, a little product goes a long way and using too much is likely to clog your pores. So, just use enough for your skin to feel the amazing benefits of this cream.

Because this cream is of a slightly thicker consistency, wait a few moments for it to fully absorb into the skin before getting dressed. But don’t worry, this cream is easily absorbed so a few moments is all you will need.
