Our Story

Our journey began in the home, as many businesses do. After leaving his job to retrain in pure, plant based skincare disciplines, Anderson Lira and fellow Co-Founder Glen Keeble began handcrafting skincare products for family and friends. This was when their vision for Green Keratin first began to take shape.

The idea was simple: to create effective organic skincare products out of the highest quality natural ingredients. Because, you only get out of your skin what you put into it, and your skin deserves the best.

After two years of cultivating the best formulas and ingredients, Green Keratin launched its first official Greens Elixir range in 2008. And that was just the beginning, to this day we are still handcrafting products that we are proud of here in our organic warehouse in London.

And although our products are no longer produced at home, our ethos will always remain the same: ethical, organic and lovingly handmade by us.

Our Philosophy

Here at Green Keratin we believe that everyone deserves to feel great about their skin. Our carefully crafted formulas are made to nourish and hydrate the skin, leaving it soft, smooth, and looking more beautiful than ever before.

In order for your skin to look and feel its most beautiful, it needs to be cared for with the right nutrients. Which is why our products are enriched with the highest quality, certified organic and natural ingredients.

Our promise to you is to always keep our products free from:

  • Parabens,
  • Methylisothiazolinone,
  • SLS & SLES,
  • E.A, D.E.A, Silicones and Formaldehyde
  • Artificial fragrances and artificial colourings.

We are committed to keeping out all the nasty ingredients that upset the delicate balance of the skin, leaving more room for the good bits.

We understand how difficult it can be to find products that suit your skin, which is why we offer a 30-day money back guarantee, no questions asked. Just get in touch with us within 30 days of buying the product, and we will help you arrange the rest!

Production - The Ethical Approach

We believe it’s important to stick to our roots, both in skincare and in business, which is why we have always seen it as vital to develop close relationships with our suppliers. Because of this, we have been lucky enough to connect with like-minded people, enabling us to source the highest quality ingredients from organically certified, reputable British suppliers.

Each of our products is handmade by a member of our team in our organic warehouse in London. In fact, everything we do is in-house, we don’t use outside agencies for any aspect of packing, manufacture, or design. From research and development to bottling the final product, everything is done by a member of our team on-site. All our products are produced in small batches, granting us greater control over the production and quality of each individual product.

We also work closely with a special development team who conduct our safety assessment, analysis, research and testing. This ensures that all our products are completely safe and tested in the most ethical way possible. We are proud to state that we never have, and never will test on animals.

Our Organic Certification

In October 2014, Organic Farmers & Growers Ltd informed us at Green Keratin that we had been successful in our application for organic certification. Registration Number: UKP0821

Organic Farmers & Growers (OF&G) is one of a number of control bodies accredited by the UK Government’s Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and is approved to inspect organic production and processing in the UK.

As a leader in organic certification for well over a decade, Organic Farmers & Growers has turned its expertise in organic inspection and licensing to this sector and has developed its Cosmetic and Bodycare Standard.
This standard is based on the EU Organic Regulation (EC2092/91) and the Nordic Ecolabelling Standards.

Principles:

  • The entire production, processing and distribution chain should be socially just and ecologically responsible.
  • The products should be minimally processed and contain the maximum proportion of organic ingredients (minimum 70%).
  • Full traceability of organic ingredients back to the farmer.
  • The products should be of high quality and optimal for their purpose.
  • No genetically modified organisms or products derived from them may be used.
  • The welfare of animals is one of the key principles of organic farming and their well-being.
  • No Animal Testing.
  • All organic ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

No Animal Testing:

We do not test on animals and we only source raw materials which have not been subjected to testing of any sort on animals.

We have joined PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies programme - a scheme that recognises companies that do not test on animals and we are approved to display PETA's cruelty-free bunny logo.
